A SET OF 8 17th CENTURY SILVER TREFID SPOONS. VERY RARE Set of 8 Silver Trefid Teaspoons, probably Provincial, c. These are almost certainly of the Charles II period and have the addition of laceback decoration to the reverse of the bowl and to the front terminal. The condition is very good with unworn bowls and just wear to loss of detail to the back of the laceback bowlsand stems on the reverse side of the bowl. An extremely well-preserved set. A set of 8 of these is VERY difficult to find. I’ve never found another set! Further research since making the listing suggests from some experts that these spoons could have been been made by the Huguenots who were not registered with the Goldsmith’s Hall. This would tie in with the date given. Alternatively, there is a slim chance these could be German of the same period as their makers mark for the period carried three initials – which these spoons may well do. Marks indistinct but the same on each spoon. Very good condition, Some rubbing to pattern. DIRECTLY WITH ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS ITEM.
